WINDER - ORIGINAL STEEL FOR AM15 / AM11 / AM180 DRUMS, UNGEARED
Winders are an essential part of the AM15 / AM11 / AM18 feed systems. They keep the drum spinning with sufficient force to keep your ammo feeding for long bursts. The winders are steel construction and can easily be swapped from one drum to the next although many shooters like to have one winder for each drum. At least one spare winder is always a good idea for maximum shooting fun!
This Ungeared Winder will feed the entire contents of all American 180 Drums.
Install the drum on the AM15 and rotate the main body of the magazine clockwise making sure that all ammo is laying flat against the next with no gaps and the ammo is against the feedblock. Install the winder into the drum, ensuring that it is completely and securely snapped into the drum.
Wind the winder 5 1/2 turns for a 165 round drum, 6 1/2 turns for a 220 round drum and 7 1/2 turns for a 275 round drum.
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT NOT TO UNDERWIND OR OVERWIND THE WINDER.
IMPORTANT: Winders have a brake lever located on the top of the winder. The brake lever is used when the removal of the winder and / or the magazine is necessary after the winder has be wound. The winder can only be wound with the winder brake lever in the WIND position. With the brake lever in the BRAKE position, the winder will no longer turn and the ammo will not be advanced. If you use sufficient force to attempt to wind the winder with the brake lever in the BRAKE position, the winder will be damaged and the brake lever will no longer function.
To avoid injury and / or to avoid dispersing all of the ammo on to the ground, it is highly recommended that the brake lever be in the BRAKE position before removal of a loaded magazine from the gun, especially after the winder has been wound.
